About Yaacov Afik
Yaacov Afik, a father of three, is deeply committed to the world of real estate and wellness tech products and the profound impact these things can have on people’s lives. He is a donor and board member of a cancer patient association, seeking to prioritise innovative approaches that contribute to the wellness of others – something which gives him deep satisfaction. Mr Afik holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Tel Aviv University, awarded in 1998.
As CEO of Afik Group, Mr Afik has a vast knowledge of real estate and finance, and he is responsible for leading the company’s real estate initiatives in Cyprus and Turkey. He is also involved in the development of a future residential complex in Tbilisi, Georgia, which will span 79,200 square metres and offer a family-friendly resort experience upon completion.
HYGEAR
Mr Afik is also the co-founder and president of HYGEAR, a company whose products aim to support everyone’s unique fitness and wellness journey using advanced – yet accessible – technology. HYGEAR’s product range includes GEAR GO, smart resistance bands designed to offer a full-body training experience, and HYBAR, a smart weighted bar that can be used to target the core and is ideal for all fitness levels. The HYGEAR app, which accompanies all products, provides unlimited real-time metrics tracking, a five-to-seven minute daily health routine programme, and hundreds of exercise demos and studio workouts.
Inside all HYGEAR equipment there are performance sensors that collect data for the user’s AI coach. Real-time feedback and performance data is used to gather insights and recommend personalised routines to create a results-driven, science-backed fitness journey. A variety of training modes and parameters allow for tailored activities, with users able to track their progress in weight, calories, speed, power and more. HYGEAR has recently begun collaborating with schools and security forces in India.
Wellness
Mr Afik enjoys a range of wellness practices and sports, which form part of his daily routine. These include unique consciousness therapy, meditation, ice baths and surfing. He is a keen practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and has achieved a brown belt in this martial art. He is a two-time International Jiu-Jitsu Federation European Champion, an Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Federation World Champion, and an Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Federation Grand Slam winner. Mr Afik loves to travel and has visited countries all over the world including Sri Lanka, India, the Dominican Republic, Panama and countries across Europe.
